About the UKHO The UKHO is an executive agency, sponsored by the Ministry of Defence. We work with a wide range of data partners to chart the world's oceans in order to develop and serve world leading software and data solutions to commercial shipping companies, navies and maritime organisations. Our products ensure safe navigation and global trade efficiency and support other marine activities including economic development, environmental protection, resource exploration and utilisation, scientific research and security and defence. The role As a Solutions Architect, you will lead and guide solution architecture, designing and crafting appropriate solutions that meet evolving business and technology requirements, balancing benefits, strategic alignment, costs and risks. This will include: Systems modelling and advising on the design and implementation of complex solution components that consider process, data, people, and technology Ensuring the effective use of architecture tools, viewpoints, artefacts and techniques Identifying, developing and prioritising solution architecture activities to ensure consistency with strategic objectives Supporting and maintaining appropriate technical governance, using a collaborative approach, working closely with technical and non-technical stakeholders The ability to quickly understand business issues or opportunities from multiple viewpoints and to determine appropriate viable solutions is essential, as is knowledge of working with architecture tools and techniques and experience of cloud and on-premises solutions and infrastructures. You will also be experienced in the creation and maintenance of architectural artefacts, such as solution passports and solution designs. A good awareness of TOGAF is equally important. You will be joining an architecture practice comprising of Enterprise Architects, Solution Architects and Data Architects and work with multiple business and technical stakeholders. The practice contains people with various specialisms and levels of experience who all support each other, share their perspectives and ideas, and seek to continually develop and improve as individuals and as a practice.  Everything we do is team based.  We take Agile seriously; you will work with agile delivery teams that include developers, testers, product owners and delivery managers - as well as have access to infrastructure specialists, UX experts and analysts.
