Product Designer

Potato is looking for Product Designers to join our Digital Product Studio in London, supporting and developing our progressive and talented team of engineers, designers, product leads and delivery leads.

About the role:

This role will see you working as part of a cross-functional, collaborative product team. We know that designers come in many different flavours and acronyms but above all, we're looking for:

Advocates of a hypothesis-driven, iterative product design process.

Collaborative designers who bring teams together to collaborate over the problem solving process.

Detail-focused craftspeople who set a high bar for quality in their design artefacts.

Our product teams pride themselves on their ability to continually interrogate their ways of working in pursuit of ‘Made Better' " our commitment to partnering with clients that share our vision for purposeful, human-centered products built on ground-breaking tech.

About you:

We're looking for advocates of the product development process. You have proven experience working in teams that use product development methodologies to solve complex problems. You understand why these methodologies are integral to product development and can evidence your role in supporting the team with the most suitable activities to the problem at hand.

We're looking for collaborative designers. You treasure collaboration, continually looking for opportunities to solve problems with a full team, regardless of their role. You participate in, and maybe even run workshops as a means of unpacking, aligning and exploring solutions to product opportunities.

We're looking for detail-focused craftspeople. Whilst you may specialise in one particular facet of digital product design, you are comfortable producing a range of artefacts to help the team articulate and test solutions to the problem at hand. You seek out and design against available insights, combining new and existing components of a design system, flow or service to originate balanced solutions. You deliver solutions with consistent regard to the IA, user flow, design guidelines and states. You're comfortable presenting these artefacts to colleagues and C-suite clients alike, with a coherent rationale that accounts for business, user and tech requirements.

You must have:

A portfolio with real world examples of projects you helped launch that showcase your design thinking skills, with at least one example of iterative design

Designed high quality interfaces and prototypes for your team, supported with UX design artefacts

Experience of end-to-end product development

Worked collaboratively with other designers, developers? & stakeholders

Worked with design systems, having grown and iterated on existing systems or developed your own

Confidence sharing design rationale with clients & colleagues?

Experience with Figma

Ideally, you also:

Understanding of web technologies.

Examples of illustrative work

Experience of Design Sprints and Lean UX

Examples of how you validate your design work

Evidence of how you influenced live projects through user research.

Culture:

Working shoulder-to-shoulder with some of the best engineers, designers and product leads in town, we'll give you the freedom to manage your own work and trust you to get things done. Want to work from home occasionally? Go for it. Need to unwind with a game of pool or some studio dog cuddles? All good. Ultimately, we just want to make sure that you have everything you need to help us build the best products possible.

You'll have many opportunities for growth and learning: collaboration within teams, rotation to different products, experimentation on internal tools, involvement in new business and pitching, our Potato Talks events, mentorship, training courses, and conferences.

Inclusivity:

We want to make our hiring as inclusive as possible, this job description has been reviewed by a range of employees and has passed a neutral language check. We have also reviewed our hiring process to make sure it offers flexibility to candidates that need it.

We're trying to do better and would love your feedback. If you think there's anything we could improve, or places you think we should advertise, then please let us know..

Salary: £40k to £60k  pa.
