Business Analyst - Food Planning and Reporting - 3 months The work location is London (remote working). The pay rate on offer is £500 per day Inside IR35The client is an iconic, multinational high-street retailer. The role sits within the newly formed Finance Reporting and Analytics Centre of Excellence, which was created to provide guidance and support to Business Partners, across multiple Finance teams, in the areas of reporting, management information and analytics.Your accountabilitiesReporting to one of the Senior Managers in the CoE, you will help the Finance Business Partners in the Food Finance team articulating and delivering the enhancements required to the trade reporting and planning application. Key activities for this role include:Capture requirements from the Finance Business Partners and identify if these can already be met by the existing functionalitiesFor new requirements not met by the existing application, document the changes that need to be implemented, at the level of detailed required by the technical developers to provide an estimate of the effortManage a dynamic backlog of cross-functional requirements, across all the areas of Food Finance, continually reviewing and prioritising the enhancements included in the backlog with the Senior Manager and Business OwnerWorking with the technical developers (either internal or the external system integration partner), represent the Food Finance team in reviewing the progress of the implementation activitiesDefine and establish an internal testing framework with suitable documentation that feeds into a UAT stageInvestigate data quality issues raised in testing or post deployment, liaising with the developer, source system support team or SME to provide initial root cause analysis or remediation options. This may include master or transactional dataManage User Acceptance Testing, defining the test scope and approach first, and coordinating the testing activities laterDefine and establish a library of documentation and processes to support the requirements elicitation and change control, integrating this into current processes within JIRAPrepare documentation to transition the operation of new reports to the Reporting Operations Team in the CoE Your skillsThe skills you will bring to the CoE team are:Strong data interpretation skills: detail-oriented, creative, inquisitive, persistent, and self-motivated in applying analytical acumen to support the Finance Business PartnersStrong communication and influencing skillsKnowledge of how a Retail company operatesStrong understanding of commercial and financial reporting processesBe able to explain confidently the technical feasibilities, complexities, observations, preferred options or impediments to the Senior Manager and Business Owner, that will have been extracted from a technical developer or stakeholder conversationsDemonstrated experience in learning how to use business intelligence and reporting tools: you will be working primarily with BOARD and, while you don't need to be a technical developer, you are expected to become confident in using the tool as an end-userConfidence in discussing financial measures: an accounting qualification (or working towards the qualification) is preferableA solid grounding in logical data models used to drive analyticsA project owner level understanding of JIRA and some limited Agile methodologies is preferable
