We are looking for a talented research software engineer who is proactive, engaging and altruistic to join us in building a better research computing landscape at the University of Bath.
Using your proven expertise in software development best practices, you will work in collaboration with cutting edge research groups to improve and deliver high quality, high performance research software. Using your knowledge of research computing infrastructure, you will help shape the future of research computing at the University of Bath.
The challenge
Working as a research software engineer at the University of Bath you will be tasked to deliver innovative software solutions to the questions posed across the full spectrum of pioneering research being carried out at the University. You will be given the opportunity to affect a step change at the University by building a culture of software development best practice and by bringing together the research software community through outreach work and the design and delivery of training. You will be given the responsibility to help design and deliver new high performance computing infrastructure for the University, and will have a direct impact on the ability of researchers at Bath to carry out their work.
The position
You will be joining the advancing Research Computing (ARC) team who are focused on providing a modern and engaging, community-orientated, computational environment to help nurture research talent across the University.
As a Research Software Engineer (RSE) you will be committed to improving the quality and performance of research software across a range of disciplines and advancing the knowledge and skills within the research community at the University. You will work closely with researchers at all development stages and be proactive in promoting and disseminating best practices in the development, sustainability and use of research software. You will be given responsibility to help deliver the next generation of research computing infrastructure at the University of Bath and you will assist in evolving and delivering the research software skills programme.
As part of wider engagement, you will contribute to a pool of regional RSE expertise to support activities for the GW4's EPSRC's Tier2 HPC Centre, Isambard.
