Lead Network & Infrastructure Engineer (Linux)

Leicester / Remote

£45,000 to £50,000 DOE + Package

Excellent opportunity for a Network & Infrastructure Engineer with strong Linux skills to join a financially strong, stable, and well ran organisation in a highly varied and interesting role where you can progress your career.

Through this period a lot of companies have struggled due to COVID-19, however through working with a range of key clients this business has continues to thrive. Through growth they are looking for a Network & Infrastructure Engineer to join their busy team.

In is role you will oversee and maintain all aspects of a company's computer infrastructure, the development and ongoing maintenance / support and provide technical expertise and architectural solutions in infrastructure, hardware, hosting service and network areas. This role has the flexibility to be remote 4 days a week, however you will need to be able to commute to head office in Leicester 1 day a week post COVID.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in maintaining large network and infrastructure environments. You will have an excellent understanding and management of Linux.

The role:

*Responsible for infrastructure; design, technical analysis, security, data centre operation, network & voice communication

*Acts as expert for infrastructure teams in the plan, design, and delivery of IT solutions

*Advises teams of IT technology standard requirements, methodology and processes

*Work with the IT and Digital development teams to provide technical architectural oversight and guidance around best practice/design patterns

*Responsible for the maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems, network servers, and virtualisation

*Install and upgrade computer components and software, manage virtual servers, and integrate automation processes

*Remote with travel to site in Leicester needed 1 day a week.

The person:

*Proven track record in in managing large network and infrastructure environment

*Must have a thorough knowledge of the Windows concepts, Domains, Active Directory and its concepts, and the interaction between hardware, operating systems, network, data centre, and application software

*An excellent understanding and management of Linux is essential

*Deep understanding of network protocols. Familiarity with DNS, DHCP and other network services

*Knowledge of managing a data centre in terms of systems monitoring, capacity planning and performance tuning

*Strong working knowledge of VMware or other virtual software
