The IPA is the Government's Centre of Expertise for infrastructure and major projects. We sit at the heart of government, working with and across government departments and industry, directing our expertise to strengthen innovation and project performance. The IPA provides expert project delivery advice, support and assurance to Government Departments and works with industry to ensure projects are delivered efficiently and effectively, and to improve performance over time.

The scale and complexity of the work the Government takes on is like no other client, and initiatives such as Project Speed demonstrate the Government's plans to revolutionise our approach to delivering projects, and to building back better, greener, and faster. To support these ambitions, and to help provide Government with access to the talent required to deliver on them, the IPA is looking to build a Major Project Leadership Talent Pool of Senior Responsible Owners (SROs) and Programme Directors across four specialist areas - Infrastructure & Construction, ICT/Digital, Transformation & Service Delivery, and Military Capability.

As the leader ultimately accountable for a project meeting its objectives, the SRO is one of the most critical roles in Government. SROs have personal accountability to Parliament, and play a crucial role in managing the engagement of senior Government stakeholders. Working alongside the SRO is the Programme Director, who has primary responsibility for successful delivery of our biggest and most complex programmes.

To build a Talent Pool of suitably experienced leaders, we are looking for candidates with a proven track record in project delivery, who can innovate and think strategically, and engage and lead stakeholders and delivery partners both within Government and across industry. Candidates for the Programme Director roles will be expected to demonstrate a track record in providing technical leadership to major projects and programmes.

Closing Date: 23:55 Monday 31st May 2021.
