Our Haulfryn family has a fantastic opportunity for a full time Lead Internal Product Developer to join our growing team. Remote working considered.
Founded in 1935 by Frank Minoprio, Haulfryn is a family-owned company spanning 26 holiday and residential parks in North Wales, Cheshire, Devon, Cornwall and Wiltshire.
For over 85 years, we've remained true to our founder's values of authenticity, determination, attention to detail and exemplary customer service. We've always been an innovative, entrepreneurial, and extremely progressive business and it's served us well: Today, we're one of the UK's largest holiday and residential park owners and we've developed a well-deserved reputation for operating the best, most beautiful parks in the country (take a look at The Warren in Abersoch and Finlake in Devon for just a few examples).
Following the recent appointment of a new CTO, we are seeking to completely transform our technology and digital capability, creating innovative new systems to:
Digitize the business (by improving ‘digital maturity' across our people, processes, operations and systems)
Grow the business (by creating new digital experiences for customers and data and analytics capability to improve our decision making)
Transform the business (by identifying new digitally centric revenue streams)
We are now looking to expand our technology team and to lay the foundations for future growth. We are looking for an inventive, entrepreneurial and hands-on Lead Internal Product Developer to help resolve some of the technical and process debt that we've accumulated, and to design and deploy integrations and automations that improve our effectiveness.
Working hours will be flexible and defined by employee based on their projects. The expectation is that the role will typically require a standard ‘office hours' (M-F 9-5.30) pattern. Remote working will be considered. Occasional travel throughout the UK (in particular Maidenhead, Devon and North Wales) will be required.
What You Will Do
Reporting directly into the CTO, the Lead Internal Product Developer will be working with stakeholders across the business to map out processes and identify, then deliver, opportunities for simplification, digitization, and automation. You'll find opportunities to grow and leverage our fledgeling (simple star structure) customer data warehouse. You'll put apps, integrations, and automations in place to enable operational teams to ‘self-serve' and you'll build reports and exports to help operators and commercial teams make better commercial decisions.
The business scope includes food & beverage (EPOS, KMS - Zonal), retail (Zonal), Spa and Leisure (Premier Core), Park and Estate Management (ParcVu), ERP (Nav/BC), digital (ASP.NET/Azure/Kotlin/Swift/React.js), Data Warehousing & Reporting (SQL Server/PowerBI/Power Apps). We are only just starting on this journey so there is an opportunity to influence the future technology strategy.
This is an exciting, broad and varied business automation role - it's a hands-on job and success is measured exclusively by the production of working software that delivers business benefit quickly.
Initially, you will be responsible for line managing one database developer, although we expect the team to scale as value is unlocked and the benefits of automation become more evident. You will also be working with (and responsible for selecting and managing) third party vendors to support both this role and our longer-term technology transformation programme.
What You Will Bring
You will be a self-motivated, resourceful, relentlessly curious and addicted to practical problem solving. You'll be pragmatic, biased strongly to action and with a sense of urgency, delivering value to customers and appreciating that often, ‘done is better than perfect'. You'll be outgoing and a great communicator who makes friends easily, while being strong enough to prioritise and say ‘no' when required.
You'll be a technology ‘polymath' with hands-on expertise in relational database design, SQL and the Microsoft Power Platform suite (particularly PowerBI, Power Flow, Power Apps, SSIS). Basic .Net development (i.e. the ability to program a simple RESTful API) would be an advantage. The solutions you deliver need to be usable and attractive, so a good eye for interface design is important. You should also have good boundary-crossing skills including project management, risk management, commercial awareness. As you will be working with sensitive customer and commercial data, you should be familiar with the requirements of GDPR and good modern infosec practices.
Why Join Us
We are a dynamic, driven and fun working environment found in some of the most beautiful locations in the UK. You will be doing a broad and autonomous role. You will have the scope and flexibility to do the right thing and make a real impact, tolerance for experimentation and finding new ways to do things and the opportunity and space to stretch and develop your career in a variety of directions that would not be possible in a ‘traditional' corporate technology role. In return we will provide you with:
