Post ref: APR20212685 The ICO  This is a pivotal time for data protection and privacy and the ICO's work as the UK's information rights regulator has never been more relevant.  Almost everything we do creates a digital data trail - shopping online, posting on social media, banking on the go or scanning a travel card. Our personal data has never been more valuable and we should be able to trust that organisations will treat it fairly and look after it securely.  Whether we are investigating a cyber-attack on a multi-national company or the loss of patient data from a local hospital, the ICO will take action on behalf of the UK public.  The data protection laws we regulate have undergone recent reform, our battle to stop the scourge of nuisance calls is gathering momentum and our role in upholding the Freedom of Information Act is vital in ensuring the public's right to know.  The Regulatory Portfolio Office at the ICO plays a central role in coordinating strategic regulatory priority projects and managing regulatory work programmes related to the implementation of regulatory strategies and improving the regulatory governance framework in which we operate.   The role  The ICO is recruiting two Regulatory Programme Mangers to join the Regulatory Portfolio Office.

The Regulatory Portfolio Office is responsible for the delivery of the ICO's critical regulatory projects and programmes of work in which the Deputy Commissioner (Regulatory Supervision) is the identified business sponsor. It also has a wider remit to work with Corporate Service staff to drive up standards and consistency of project delivery across the organisation.   The successful candidates will separately be responsible for the design and implementation of bespoke programmes of work such as the implementation of the ICO's Regulatory Governance Framework and the Regulatory Risk Management Strategy. They will manage the programmes on day to day basis and work to ensure senior staff receive the right information on costs, progress and resources at the right time so key decisions can be made.   The roles are varied, challenging and stimulating, working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. They require demonstrable project management skills, strong judgement, the ability to manage upwards and confidence in advising senior leaders. You will be comfortable providing appropriate challenge to senior stakeholders and be expected to brief and provide appropriate steers to colleagues at all levels.  You will need experience of managing competing demands on your time, have excellent communication and negotiation skills and a good understanding of the UK regulatory landscape and an understanding of what working in an agile project environment entails.  How to apply  Completed application forms to be submitted prior to the closing date of 23:59, Tuesday 04 May 2021  Please note if you are appointed to work with the ICO you will be required to complete security clearance processes. These include identity and qualification checks and a Basic Disclosure level check of unspent criminal convictions.  Why work for us? We are proud to provide our people with a premium benefits package. We are continually improving the rewards we offer. Here are a few of the valuable rewards that you will enjoy: Flexible working hours, including flexi leave. Civil Service Pension arrangements. 25 days' paid holiday a year with options to buy, sell, and bank days. Extra "privilege" days in addition to normal public holidays. Compressed working hours options. Excellent learning and development opportunities. Health cash plan. Colleague assistance scheme. Access to many discounted products and services.
