As a Platform Support Engineer, you will provide high quality proactive maintenance and reactive support for the Direct-To-Home broadcast video systems on which Sky's business depends. As part of Platform Systems Support, your role is at the cutting edge of the convergence between traditional broadcast and IT cultures - Platform Systems Manager"

What you'll do:

- Responsible for providing support services to other teams within CT&I and the teams in Broadcast Operations, Sky News, Sky Sports, Creative Services and CIS and any other department engaged in the creation of Broadcast Content to our customers. - 24/7 maintenance and support to ensure industry leading levels of availability for a diverse range of end to end broadcast systems - Maintain an ongoing communication with CT&I Technical Operations staff - To work closely with change owners and operations teams to ensure changes are implemented accurately without service affecting incident and are detailed to supportable standards. - Conduct in-depth root cause analysis and fault finding at the earliest possible opportunity. - Provide technical advice, mentorship and expertise on Sky systems to internal user groups and project staff. - On call out of hours support - Representation of department at Broadcast partner incident meetings.

What you'll bring:

- For this role in particular the candidate will be knowledgeable in the application of various relevant techniques and technologies involved in MPEG Compression systems including Encoding, Transcoding and Storage of material for use within a Broadcast facility, Enterprise level servers and operating systems (Linux) - Considerable experience in a Technical Support role. - Good understanding of IT and Networking to understand basic network issues; - Solid understanding of MPEG/DVB standards; - Understand the application of ETSI standard ETR101-290 towards MPEG/DVB streams using an appropriate analyser; - Experience with Encoding and Compression Systems (MPEG2, MPEG4, HEVC) - Experience with DVB-SI - Has a sound understanding of Red Hat Linux
