Job Description The role can be based within our Hemel Hempstead or Bracknell office. Job Summary The role is to provide high quality Infrastructure support to a large multi-client community as part of a customer focused support team. The Infrastructure engineer will be required to support and specialise in MS Windows server with a good understanding of Unix/Linux/Ubuntu technologies. The Infrastructure Engineer will be responsible as part of a team for ensuring the effective operation and availability of the supported infrastructure for both external and Internal customers.   Working within the ITIL process guidelines the team is responsible for the support of incidents, service requests, changes, events and capacity issues as well as reducing the number of Incidents logged  though proactive problem management and Root Cause Analysis.   The successful candidate will be expected to deal with support calls and implement technical change/project work for our clients in an efficient and timely manner working to all contracted SLAs and OLAs. RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: Ensuring all support calls are dealt with within the SLA timescales Using specialist technical skills to proactively manage all elements of the supported Infrastructure ensuring high levels of service availability Enforcing Proactive Problem management to drive down numbers of fault Incidents raised  Ensuring that all change/project work is delivered on time and to budget Proactive monitoring of Servers, Key systems and Network Proactive maintenance of systems, installing patches, upgrades etc Carrying out all backups and log checking Strategic planning of IT infrastructure Capacity and Availability planning and reporting on IT infrastructure Providing customers with high level technical consultancy Project planning Specialising in the installation, configuration and support of Windows Servers and back office applications Designing and implementing storage solutions including managing day to day storage activities Ensure compliance with all documented procedures Creating and updating knowledge to ensure all work instructions and fixes are documented Be able to work 7.5 flexible working hours, between the hours of 7am-7pm Monday to Friday On-call support as part of an on-call rota Travel and work at other Northgate Public Services locations and client sites across the UK as required Qualifications Essential Windows Server 2012/2016, including ISA and AD, clustering and network load balancing VMware vCenter & vSphere, including vCenter Operations, Capacity IQ and Site Recovery Manager Understanding of UNIX & Linux operating systems and versions including but not limited to RHEL, CentOS, Solaris & Ubuntu SAN implementation administration and capacity management, covering HP Enterprise Virtual Arrays or NetApp Installation, configuration and support of Hyper-V Symantec Anti-Virus Thorough knowledge of MS Back Office products including Exchange Thorough knowledge of Backup solutions, from local to Enterprise level Thorough knowledge of large network environments, LAN/WAN technologies and TCP/IP Clustering technologies Strong interpersonal/team skills An adaptable attitude, wanting to provide excellent customer service Self-motivation Excellent communication and client facing/customer service skills Security Clearance - equivalent to MOD SC Full, current driving licence Desirable NetCool, PRTG, SNMPc and BMC tool-set JetNexus  NLB Solution ITIL foundation Level qualification Experience with Cisco and 3Com network equipment Internet technologies, Email, firewall, web access etc. Previous working experience within large scale Data Centre environments NPPV Security Clearance REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Microsoft MCSE or equivalent professional qualification Additional Information Employees of Northgate Public Services are entitled to the following Company funded benefits: Single Private Medical Cover (with the option to select family cover at an additional cost) 25 days paid holiday (includes 3 company nominated days) with the option to buy/sell up to 5 days 4 x basic salary life assurance cover A Group Pension Plan with fantastic employer contributions A selection of tax efficient flexible benefits to suit your individual needs The role offers a competitive salary.
