Senior Full Stack Developer

Framestore is seeking to recruit a Full Stack Developer, to work with our Virtual Production department; this role is a 12 month contract with a competitive salary.

Framestore is looking to create innovative software solutions to aid in the coordination of the multiple hardware and software systems utilized on virtual production shoots. We are looking for a senior software engineer who can help design and develop these tools as well as the planning and strategizing of how the data they produce can be exchanged with both internal and external clients.

You would be responsible for breaking user stories into development tasks and hands-on in the design and implementation process. You would be responsible for seeking cross engineering validation of your major design decisions in order to ensure Framestore's technology evolves with open standards for data exchange and application interoperability. You would work closely with end users to ensure that the tools we build add value in production.

Responsabilities

Steer the architecture and design of our virtual production stage management tools

Lead the development process through all parts of the technology stack

Work closely with stakeholders to take projects from concept through to delivery

Work closely with Pipeline and R&D tech leads to design and deliver efficient data exchange

Keep up to date on developments in CG content creation

Help mentor other Software engineers via code review and an inclusive planning process

Job Requirements

Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field

Minimum five years of industry experience

Object oriented programming with Javascript and Python

Containerised (Docker) application development and deployment

Proven ability with UX and application design

Working in a structured development environment (agile, version control, code review)

Experience with at least one popular web back-end framework like Flask or Django

Experience with modern front-end frameworks for SPAs, like AngularJS or ReactJS

A strong understanding of SQL (MySQL/PostgreSQL) and database design

Experience in building microservices, authoring and accessing REST/CRUD APIs

Desirable skills and experience

Familiar with working practices and concepts of film production and visual effects

Experience working with VFX Pipelines

Understanding real time workflows (Unreal Engine)

Hands-on practice with media encoding tools like FFmpeg

Working with on-set digital acquisition hardware

Writing technical briefs and user documentation

Experience of design systems such as material ui or similar
