Salary: £35,000 - £40,000 DOE
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Network Engineer, the successful candidate will be based in Derby and will have experience of network troubleshooting and support of LAN/WAN, cloud/on-prem, hardware and applications, you will also support the Service/Commissioning team (with client delivery) and the Pre-Sales Team with proposal designs and the Development team with the review and implementation of new network technologies and solutions.
The successful candidate will be able to create network solution designs based upon client requirements, implementation, and test plans for delivery, with post implementation support and will act as 3rd Line escalation point for support tickets, investigate, and provide advice and assistance to our network development teams.
Main Responsibilities:Network Engineer
Engaging internal resource as required to ensure alignment to business strategy, Network architecture and principles and safe service introduction of project solutions.Contributing to the development of current and future networking architecture models, principles, standards, and processes.Developing long-term relationships with colleagues, delivery partners and technology vendors.Managing risks and issues associated with the networking architecture process and escalate where necessary.Attend pre-sales and project initiation meetings to gain full understanding of business & client requirements.Manage milestones & deliverables within project scope.Research and analyse requirements for assigned projects and be involved in full project lifecycle from inception to closure.Desired Skills and Experience:Network Engineer
Experience of working in solution architecture or very strong experience in Network Engineering with a strong background in technology (business applications and enterprise integration in particular)Exposure to Network Architecture processes and best practiceAbility to think strategically and evaluate options in the short, medium, and long term.Ability to cope in a technically complex and fast-changing environment, and to respond calmly and rationally to changing aspirations in a deadline-driven situation.Understanding of data networking technologies principally TCP/IP based and the associated infrastructure.Solid understanding of Cisco IOS, NX-OS,and associated devicesSolid understanding of routing protocolsAdministrative experience of Cisco ASA security appliances and NGFWGood understanding of QoS and VOIP technologiesExperience of 3rd party products used to provide monitoring and management of the network and associated devices.Broad understanding of Network security technology, principles, practices.CCNP or alternative vendor equivalentUse of applications such as SolarWinds and Splunk for network monitoring and logging.Network Automation experience (Python or other scripting)
