Second Line Technical Support Engineer for a bespoke Apache / Tomcat web application running in a dedicated Linux environment. You must have Linux administration experience, with excellent communication skills. As a successful applicant will be joining a busy Department with a well-established and innovative Software Development Company based in Chippenham, Wiltshire.

SALARY: £27,000 - £38,000 per annum + Benefits (includes 30 Days Annual Leave plus 8 Bank Holidays)

JOB OVERVIEW

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Second Line Technical Support Engineer who has Linux administration experience. SQL/data analysis (MySQL & MariaDB) experience essential.

As the a Second Line Technical Support Engineer, you will need to be methodical, organised, have good analytical skills and be customer focussed, with a high attention to detail.

The role is varied, and you will have the opportunity to work closely with the Configuration and Implementation Departments, plus liaison with the Development function regarding application bug fixes and enhancement testing.

DUTIES

Your duties and responsibilities as a Second Line Technical Support Engineer will include:

Core responsibilities:

Second tier support for a bespoke Apache / Tomcat web application running in a dedicated Linux environment

Triage, actioning and root cause analysis of incidents and requests

Creation and maintenance of SQL reports, data loads

Creating and maintaining tickets (client & internal)

Liaison with Configuration and Implementation functions

Maintenance of documentation (Wiki)

Secondary responsibilities:

Liaison with Development function regarding application bug fix and enhancement testing

Environment setup, ongoing configuration and maintenance

Continuous improvement

Windows / Windows domain experience - nice to have skill set

 

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

As a Second Line Technical Support Engineer you will have the following skills, experience and attributes:

Customer focused

Product knowledge - will be trained in house on a single product

SQL / data analysis - strong (MySQL)

Linux administration - essential

ITIL - basic awareness would be beneficial

IT literate - competency with desktop and mobile applications including browsers, mobiles, tablets, Microsoft Office

Rudimentary knowledge of shell scripts in order to automate tasks with willingness to learn

A willingness to lean and embrace the product functionality

Methodical/organised

Analytical

High attention to detail

Sees a task through to completion

Able to multi task in a small dynamic environment

Takes ownership / self-motivated

Team player

Finance / corporate card experience - nice to have
