My client, a global leader in designing and building control and automation solutions across a broad number of segments, (notably; Marine, Industrial Process, and Oil & Gas), are looking to grow their Controls & Software team, and are looking for a Control & Modelling Engineer. The Control & Modelling Engineer will be part of the Marine Automation team who are responsible for developing and maintaining the companies Dynamic Positioning (DP) product and associated tools. This role will involve simulating & creating control algorithms for highly complex & bespoke Marine vessels to enable them to control their movement when drilling, pipelaying, installing wind turbines and similar operations in variable weather conditions.Main responsibilitiesProvide control and modelling expertise to the Dynamic Positioning (DP) team to further develop and continually enhance the DP product. The output from your work will be used to: generate control algorithms for controlling vessel movement.generate simulation environments to validate the control algorithms.Identify, propose and drive the development of new features and enhancements.Support other teams, such as Sales, Engineering and ServiceDevelop and maintain an awareness of key technical developments and trends in the DP industry & monitoring the capabilities of key competitors.Occasional travel to customer or other company development locations may be required.Essential requirementsBachelor of Science in Control Engineering, or relevant subject.Strong control background within the marine domain, OR similar highly regulated technical domainProven ability to develop control models and simulations within Matlab or similar toolsAbility to analyse, prepare and present technical data to internal and external customers.Effective communication with stakeholders of varying levels of technical expertise.Ability to multi-task on a variety of projects to strict timescales. In return you can expect a salary of up to £55,000 (dependant on experience), 10% bonus, and a 10% pension.
