To apply you must have the following:Postgraduate (or equivalent) qualification, ideally in a management discipline or significant relevant operational management experience.Evidence of management/leadership training (or equivalent experience) and continuous professional development Job Summary Reporting to the Chief of Division, the Divisional Director and Chief are jointly responsible and accountable for the delivery of high quality and high performing services, within budget for an agreed level of activity at an expected level of service and clinical quality. The Divisional Director is expected to ensure all the activities undertaken within the Division are subject to best practice governance arrangements and meet national policies, local policies and guidance. The Divisional Director will provide strategic leadership and direction for the division, ensuring that this supports the fulfilment of the Trust's objectives and patient safety requirements. In partnership with the Divisional Management Team ("DMT") will have joint responsibility for the operational management of the division, ensuring the effective implementation of both national and local strategies and the achievement of service objectives within available resources. Key Working Relationships CEO, Divisional Heads of Nursing, Head of Midwifery, Deputy Divisional Director, Executive Board, including Executive Directors and Non-Executive Directors, Clinical Directors and Clinical Lead(s), Assistant Divisional Manager, Service Manager(s), professional heads, Lead Nurses, external stakeholders, patients and public. Main Duties & Responsibilities Service Delivery and Development To work in a triumvirate with the Chief and Divisional Heads of Nursing and Head of Midwifery to provide leadership and strategic direction for the division, developing and implementing the division's strategy - including identifying opportunities for growing, improving and redesigning services in line with the Trust's objectives. To lead the development and implementation of strategy and annual plans for the provision of services within the Division, in partnership with the Chief of Division and Divisional Heads of Nursing and Midwifery To deputise for the Chief of Division as required. To deliver national performance targets in line with NHSI/NHSE To work with professional leads and services managers to ensure statutory and regulatory requirements are maintained in relation to such regulatory as UKAS, MHRA, GPhC and the HTA To work with the Divisional Management Team to identify future resourcing requirements and ensuring that the division meets its contractual and other requirements, e.g. waiting list targets, NHS Plan standards. To be accountable for the effective performance of the division and accountable for the delivery of all national and local standards, performance indicators and the Trust's annual business plan. To build and lead an effective team to support and strengthen leadership within the directorate. To ensure that the division has effective arrangements in place for identifying, assessing, reporting and managing risk, in line with National Standards Local Action and Healthcare Commission Standards. To represent the Division at corporate level and with external local, regional and national agencies including other service providers, patients, lead clinicians, CCGs, and other appropriate agencies on issues relating to service delivery and strategic planning. With the Divisional Management Team, to be responsible for coordinating the activities of the divisions staff to ensure appropriate prioritisation and effective use of resources. Development and implement performance indicators, service specification and quality and membership criteria. Critically evaluate the performance of the Division and take corrective action as required. To develop a culture of continuous improvement and ensure the full potential of staff is realised. To motivate and empower staff to make informed decisions and have responsibility commensurate with their role. Patient safety and reduction of HCAI's is intrinsic to service development and delivery of care. To take individual responsibility to ensure working practice is safe. Take responsibility for the management of contracts and contractual relationships corporately, on behalf of the Chief of Division. Responding to all queries, presenting timely information on the performance of the Division and ensuring effective working with all commissioners and support agencies.
