The work of NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) impacts on a huge proportion of the population. Every month, we gather thousands of units of blood for transfusion purposes, and we work tirelessly to enable the retrieval and transportation organs and tissues to the optimal patient. Digital, Data and Technology Services play a vital part in this work. And it is within this forward-thinking team that you could find an exceptional challenge, plus the scope to develop your skills and expertise even further.  About the role Use your expertise to support life saving work by taking responsibility for guiding and supporting essential C# /.NET modernisation work for a critical national technology platform. In this senior role, you will be required to forge a strong working relationship with the software development provider, integrate with the architecture practice and collaborate with stakeholders across the organisation.  You will be working closely with the Head of Programme Delivery, Technical Design Assurance Manager and our software developers to ensure the code refactoring is technically successful. You will be guiding the programme and providing subject matter expertise to our development and delivery teams whilst raising and supporting the management of any associated risks and issues you discover throughout your work in order to ensure our technical plans are feasible and the programme is able to deliver the planned blood technology roadmap. About you We are looking for senior candidates who have significant C# / .NET experience, who have a digital, agile mindset along with a positive and can-do attitude. We want you to play a key role in the delivery of our programme through assuring our software development supplier and acting as a enterprise software SME. In your role, you will use your experience to guide and assure the programme. We expect you to be well versed in architecture methodologies (e.g. TOGAF) and ideally have a related qualification or degree to underpin your practical experience. We will also look for you to: Be highly articulate and credible, consistently influencing and delivering inspiring, engaging, and meaningful information regarding future direction Have a proven ability to manage the technical relationships with key third party contracted software providers through coaching, mentoring and assurance Build collaborative relationships and solve issues by engaging the right people at the right time Have expert stakeholder engagement and communication skills particularly with dealing with senior stakeholders within and external to the organisation. Have experience delivering and Assuring software solutions at an enterprise scale, particularly on modernisation initiatives in high risk, complex environments. Have extensive understanding of architectural styles and design patterns and software quality assurance principles. Have a demonstrated ability to review detailed C# / .Net code in order to ensure all software development is secure and is adopting the agreed security models and standards for authentication and encryption within NHSBT Have a extensive technical knowledge of software and code proficient in several languages and technologies Have great problem-solving skills, with the ability to anticipate risks and identify the measures that need to be taken.
