TECH CHANGING | LIFE SAVING | CAREER MAKING
Technology programmes don't get much more important than this. The mission: to modernise the technology that underpins the UK blood supply chain to support the wider NHS and our donors and patients. In a co-operative and collaborative, agile environment, you'll help us build new capabilities and deliver real technology change, faster and more effectively than ever as we support the realisation of NHSBT's core mission of saving and improving more lives.
The work of NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) impacts on a huge proportion of the population. Every month, we gather thousands of units of blood for transfusion purposes, and we work tirelessly to enable the retrieval and transportation organs and tissues to the optimal patient. Digital, Data and Technology Services play a vital part in this work. And it is within this forward-thinking team that you could find an exceptional challenge, plus the scope to develop your skills and expertise even further.
At NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT), we want our business software to be the very best in the UK. Ambition is the only way we'll make sure that even more patients with blood-related disorders get the treatment and services they need. And we need multi-talented Application Support Engineers who can deliver the innovation and high standards that will get us there.
You'll play a central role in deploying and configuring crucial business software across our organisation. This includes managing our third-line technical support for our applications and working with stakeholders across NHSBT to resolve issues. By helping us run more efficiently and effectively, your work will ultimately help us save and improve lives across the UK.
You'll also take on key projects involving our applications, managing project deadlines while delivering complex technical solutions. As a lead technical authority for applications, you'll be a source of expertise for our business units, but you'll also deliver service changes which affect all our users.
Alongside your main duties, you'll contribute to our long-term business strategy and find ways to evolve our application technology.
You'll have solid experience in application delivery and support, with a good knowledge of ITIL and ITSM processes. You'll also have experience deploying on cloud-based platforms and specialist knowledge of Citrix, virtualisation technology and Windows servers 2003, 2008, 2012 and 2016.
We're looking for candidates with strong technical and problem-solving skills, but also strategic thinkers who can find ways to improve and evolve services. You should have advanced data entry skills and the ability to communicate with a wide range of people.
Strong IT skills in general are essential, along with a relevant degree and an application deployment qualification.
At NHSBT, we also value the immense knowledge that our highly skilled team brings to our work. We'll invest heavily in your personal and professional needs, from progressive training and development opportunities through to competitive pension schemes and generous annual leave allowance. It's about making sure every NHSBT employee is truly happy in their work. Join us, experience a great work-life balance and a sense of achievement that can't be found anywhere else.
At NHSBT, we set standards that other healthcare organisations aspire to. Our people are passionate about saving and enhancing as many lives as possible, and despite the difficult circumstances of the last year, they have worked collaboratively to drive the most incredible results.
We foster a truly progressive mind-set in which we all want to raise our standards wherever possible, so you will find an exceptional workplace in which to implement your skills. In turn, we can offer a friendly working environment in which colleagues genuinely enjoy the work that they are doing, enhanced by exceptional training and development opportunities.
You will also have access to a generous benefits package that includes plenty of annual leave, a competitive pension, multiple staff discounts and a great work/life balance. So, if you are ready to put your skills to the test in an organisation that will nurture you to think bigger and better, then you will be a natural fit in our team.
We are passionate about creating an inclusive workplace and aim to reflect the diverse communities we work with and positively encourage applications from all sectors of the community.
