The work of NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) impacts on a huge proportion of the population. Every month, we gather thousands of units of blood for transfusion purposes, and we work tirelessly to enable the retrieval and transportation organs and tissues to the optimal patient. Digital, Data and Technology Services play a vital part in this work. About The Role

You'll play a key role in ensuring the safe and effective delivery of IT enabled services through software thorough and robust software testing. You will join our newly formed blood systems testing team and work within our multi-disciplinary delivery squads, writing test scripts, conducting testing and reviewing the outputs.

Within the blood technology product centre, you will have the opportunity to support both manual and automated testing activities to ensure new technology change both meets business requirements and is delivered safely into the live environment, this change will initially focus on modernising our code base to C# / .net.

You will also form part of the systems testing community of practice where you will have the opportunity to contribute to the sharing of best practice as well as the opportunity to learn and develop with colleagues throughout the organisation.

About you

We are looking for candidates who have fantastic analytical skills, looking to develop and grow further in their profession and who approach their work with a digital, agile mind-set and a positive, can-do attitude.

You will have solid experience as a system test engineer with a level of exposure to test automation, and who have a relevant degree or professional qualification to underpin it.

In addition we are looking for you to:

  • Have experience of both black box and white box testing, test management and relevant legislation
  • Be well versed in writing test scripts, conducting software testing, review outputs, resolve defects and be able to communicate the output to a wider range of stakeholders
  • Be flexible in supporting the needs of the testing team in both manual and automation testing and be willing to travel on occasion to locations throughout the UK
  • Be articulate and credible, building relationships with stakeholders throughout the organisation
