Manage critical high-profile projects to help protect London

At the Met, we need to continually adapt to keep pace with London's changing needs. Our Technology, Research and Innovation (TRI) project teams are at the forefront of these changes, leading the projects that make a huge impact on our ability to keep Londoners safe. Join us as a Senior Project Manager and you'll play a pivotal role in leading the projects that are transforming our service.

You'll be the point of contact for all TRI project management, while managing a range of high-profile IT projects that will have a major impact on the Met's operational capability. This involves the day-to-day leadership of a variety of technical projects simultaneously. Working closely with senior leaders, you'll prepare and gain approval for business cases, secure relevant funding, define project scopes and approve technical solutions. You'll also set out project plans and monitor progress, while managing finances, ensuring security compliance and enabling effective communication between project teams and the business. In short, you'll manage every aspect of each project to ensure they are delivered on time and to budget.

You'll have an IT or engineering degree, HNC/HND or equivalent, and ideally a relevant project management qualification. With extensive high-level project and programme management experience through the entire project cycle, you'll be comfortable managing multi-disciplinary teams of internal and external developers. You'll also be used to developing SLAs, contracts and business cases and allocating resources effectively. Naturally, you'll be a confident communicator and a motivational leader, with exceptional organisational skills.

An experienced object-oriented programmer, you'll have strong knowledge of databases and web development. You'll also have a background in developing, implementing, testing and validating network architectures, with an understanding of network communications data analysis and both wired and wireless architectures. With a sound knowledge of the application of IT security to sensitive data, you'll also be familiar with penetration testing and IT health checks.
