Job Purpose

We are recruiting for a highly skilled technologist with experience across several technology domains but with an emphasis on the identity and productivity space. You will play a vital role in ensuring our identity and productivity services are delivered and managed aligned with the business's needs. Working closely with DDaT colleagues and suppliers, you will ensure the technical solutions evolve following the roadmap, remaining fit for purpose, and providing an acceptable balance of flexibility versus control.

Collaborating with the Identity & Access Product Manager and the Head of Enabling Technologies, you will act as the subject matter expert for O365, Exchange Online, and Azure Active Directory. Contributing technically, you will guide delivery partners whilst offering assurance to the client that alignment with their business requirements has been maintained.

You will also be involved in ad-hoc investigations and technical change initiatives. These could include assessing and/or delivering new functionality or assisting in developing new services and transitioning them into their enduring support structure.

Key Responsibilities

As the Identity and Productivity Lead you will be responsible for understanding and implementing new services in the email and identity spaces, then transitioning them to delivery partners or arranging ongoing service delivery and ownership within the DDaT team.

For services we have transitioned to delivery partners you will work closely with colleagues to ensure services are maintained and evolved according to the business's requirements.

Responsibilities include:

?Maintaining an in-depth understanding of Office 365, primarily the Exchange Online aspects, can undertake design, build, and support activities.

?Advising and steering 3rd party suppliers who provide design, build, and support services.

?Collaborating with the Security and Architecture teams on the implementation of security controls in email and conditional access controls in O365 more broadly.

?Maintaining expertise of how Exchange Online is evolving and how it fits into the wider O365 ecosystem.

?Maintaining expertise of how Azure Active Directory and associated identity and access services are evolving.

?Working with colleagues to facilitate the evolution of end-user experience and access all systems from anywhere, securely.

?Engaging, challenging, and influencing suppliers whilst being able to discuss implementation at a highly technical level.

?Maintaining a high level of expertise in authentication mechanisms and directories, with a view of how these can be leveraged to manage access to services and implement security controls.

?Staying aware of technology and industry trends and be a subject matter expert for identity and productivity solutions.

?Undertaking proactive horizon scanning and innovating in the areas of identity and productivity.

?Leading technical change initiatives and contribute to projects.

?Acting as service owner for new services within this space.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Degree level qualification is not essential; it is more meaningful to demonstrate your contribution to recent relevant projects.

Experience

Essential - Technical knowledge and skills in a range of IT areas with a focus on

?O365, especially email configuration.

?O365 conditional access.

?Active Directory and Azure Active Directory.

?Federated authentication protocols and technologies (e.g. SAML, OpenID Connect, Shibboleth).

?Device management using Intune.

?Powershell and its use in managing Windows, O365 and Azure technologies.

?Manipulating data and automating processes.

?Overview of developments in technology areas outlined above and a keen interest in technology developments.

?Taking a problem or requirements specification and designing and implementing technical solutions.

?Working with delivery partners to drive value and performance improvements in delivering continuous improvement in a relevant IT field.

?Documentation and report writing skills to both technical and business audiences.

?Evidence-based decision making and following processes and policies and challenging where appropriate.

?Ability to adapt to changing priorities in an agile manner.

Desirable -

?Experience of working within the Public Sector.

?An understanding of how to deliver value for money.

?Knowledge and experience of managing of O365 ecosystem beyond email.

?Understanding of service design principles.

?Knowledge of ITIL framework (Incident, Problem, Change and Request processes).
