Who we are: We are an IT & Digital Services company based near Keswick in Cumbria, providing a range of services covering managed services contracts, servers and network installations, wired & wireless networks, VOIP and web site design and hosting. We have stunning views from our open planned offices overlooking the breath-taking Skiddaw massive, located in the middle of the Lake District National Park we have some of the finest walks and outdoor goings-on in the country. The 1st / 2nd Line Support Engineer Role: We're a managed IT services company differs from a traditional internal IT team. Unlike in-house engineers who may only get to work on one network, each of our team members support multiple networks on daily basis. It is essential that our IT team keep up to date with the latest services, solutions and the general IT landscape.
Because of this there is a strong preference for candidates who have recently worked at a managed service company or have at least performed a recent deployment of Microsoft servers, services and solutions such as Microsoft 365, Exchange, Remote Desktop Services, Windows Server, SQL etc. Essential Experience: + Two or more years of IT support experience.
+ Desktop support including email clients, internet connection troubleshooting (ADSL/VDSL), Office software, printer installations, general problem diagnostics procedures.
+ Currently supported Microsoft Desktop and Server Operating Systems and platforms.
+ User creation and maintenance in on premises Active Directory and Microsoft 365.
+ Backup solutions and restoration procedures.
+ Fundamental knowledge of IP networks. Desired Experience: + Demonstrable troubleshooting skills that range from user desktop support through to server and cloud services.
+ Exposure to HP desktop/laptop and server platforms. Hands on working knowledge of server hardware, RAID etc.
+ Wi-Fi networks including point to point Wi-Fi links.
+ VoIP telecommunications exposure.
+ Knowledge of IP networks including Routing, Firewalls, DNS, DHCP, Wireless network planning and implementation, WAN connections including ADSL, VDSL and leased lines.
+ Knowledge in one of the mainstream firewall / networking brands - Draytek, Fortinet, Cisco, Ubiquiti etc.
+ Knowledge of Veeam, ShadowProtect, Datto and Eset solutions would be a bonus. Non-Technical Skills: Essential: + Good planning, follow through and documentation skills.
+ Adaptable interpersonal skills as you will be dealing with customers in all positions from board level downwards.
+ Capability to autonomously self-assign workloads and schedule others as part of the team.
+ The candidate must be well presented alongside good written and verbal English skills.
+ Full UK valid driver's license. Desired: + Ability to work from home using equipment assigned by us
+ Recent Microsoft or industry certifications and a willingness to upgrade certifications and partake in continued personal development.
