Digital Policing Directorate

West Yorkshire Police is looking to recruit a Data Administrator for a fixed term until 31 March 2023 to join Digital Policing Directorate based in Wakefield.
As part of the Infrastructure team, the scope of your responsibilities will be to provide expert guidance on database creation, monitoring and maintenance; ensuring database recoverability, integrity, security, availability and performance. You will also be expected to lead the identification, assessment and implementation of new and upgraded databases.
In addition, you will also provide analysis and direction for Digital Policing support teams on effective database monitoring, management and optimisation and when required assist with the investigation of problems, identifying root causes and wherever possible developing automated solutions.
You will also be expected to lead and develop on Database project delivery advising on appropriate hardware specification and configuration including disaster recovery provision and provide new solutions and detailed documentation to support handover into a production environment. You will also provide expert input and knowledge on the process of using data to support Business Intelligence and modern Data Analytics to support policing and business activities.
The ideal candidate will already be able to demonstrate the ability to manage relational databases on a large scale computer infrastructure with experience of database creation, performance tuning and migration between differing database versions and experience of data warehouse creation to support business analytics
Furthermore, you will already have a Degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant subject or relevant experience in a database support environment.
Owing to the nature of this role you must be willing and able to travel for business purposes and be able to participate in a call out rota to be considered for this position.
