Contract Type: Permanent Location: London Summary At the Department for International Trade, we secure UK and global prosperity by promoting and financing international trade and investment and championing free trade. The Department for International Trade's (DIT) mission is to help businesses export, drive inward and outward investment, negotiate market access and trade deals, and champion free trade.

Project Delivery and Change is a new Directorate in DIT established in August 2019 with the exciting remit to drive DIT's change capability through processes, systems, procedures, culture and working practices that enable staff to optimise new initiatives and deliver through ambiguity and uncertainty effectively. Our aim is to support the delivery of the Chief Operating Officer (COO) objectives of doing the basics well, supporting delivery and building for the future. This includes our office move to Old Admiralty Building.

The Trade Policy Group (TPG) provides the capability to deliver an independent trade policy for the UK. TPG's immediate tasks are to: develop the UK's specific goals and policies for international trade agreements with the rest of government build our own capability as a world leading trade policy organisation Location

Post Covid-19 restrictions we would expect these roles to be working in a DIT hub location 2/3 days per week with the rest of the time working remotely. Our principal hub is currently London but we are expecting to grow our footprint in the North of England over the next 12 months and can accommodate these home locations. Your home base can be discussed further at interview. Job description Places for Growth Programme Planner (HEO):

The role will form part of Places for Growth team within the Change Directorate. Places for Growth is part of the Government's high profile ‘levelling up' agenda and will enable departments to connect with and reflect the communities we serve, as we move towards a more geographically dispersed and better-connected Civil Service. The project is contributing toward this agenda through the relocation of civil service roles from London and is driving the necessary planning and preparation within Government departments and public bodies to relocate into the regions and nations of the United Kingdom.

This Programme Planner role will support the delivery of the department's Places for Growth contributions. Places for Growth represents a significant shift for DIT's organisational structure, and the Programme Planner will work closely with the Programme Manager to ensure the project remains on track. This will include developing, maintaining and iterating robust project management processes, working closely with internal stakeholders, and supporting critical project reporting artefacts.

Project Planner (HEO):

The Project Planner role will sit in the Trade Policy and Negotiation Delivery team within Trade Policy Group. The team is responsible for ensuring the successful delivery of trade negotiations with non-EU countries and works closely with negotiation teams and other trade policy projects within the Trade Policy Group to support their successful delivery. This includes providing the necessary programme management tools and support to deliver their projects successfully, and ensuring that accurate and timely programme information is utilised to inform and shape decision-making at the senior levels. The Project Planner may be involved in planning with negotiating teams to launch new trade negotiations, or be working with stakeholders across the Department to ensure that relevant work streams to operate an independent trade policy (for example trade tariff systems) remain operational.

Project Delivery Function, Project Planner (SEO):

We are looking for talented portfolio or project delivery professionals to join our central Project Delivery Function. The Project Planner will be part of a team in the strategic Project Delivery Profession to ensure successful planning for delivery of key departmental initiatives and priorities. The role holder will use their knowledge and skills to provide projects with specialist planning input, as well as participating in the development of project delivery across the department.

The Project Planner will be working closely with the Project & Programme Management Planning Best Practice Lead to promote and contribute to project management frameworks, tools and guidance. The role holder will help with portfolio planning and reporting insights to the DIT, Director-level Projects and Change Committee.

This role will involve working closely with our projects and the wider department project delivery community, with the aim to improve the quality and maturity of project plans. The job holder will promote best practice project planning and dependency management by building effective relationships within projects, providing exposure to senior stakeholders and corporate functions across the department.
