This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and experienced IT Infrastructure Manager to join Bradford Council's IT Services.  Offering flexible working arrangements.

Working in the Core Infrastructure & Desktop Services Team to lead the Infrastructure Team and deliver Infrastructure support, system support, maintenance, configuration and development that ensures that the department meets and exceeds agreed service levels to its Customers.

The central focus of the role is to participate and lead in and support the Server and DataCentre strategy for the ongoing development and enhancement of the council's core systems services. You will be required to engage with the business, projects and infrastructure teams to establish infrastructure controls and requirements on a wide range of issues. You will be expected to line manage a team responsible for day to day security, stability and supportability of the server and data storage estate.  This will include monitoring activities and managing infrastructure incident events to a resolution. Developing appropriate IT policies and guidance's will be essential in the role in conjunction with other IT Managers.

The successful candidate for this opportunity will: 

Manage and lead the Core Infrastructure and DataCentre function and be part of the IT services management team.

Experience working at a senior level in an IT environment including the management of a specialist technical team.

Deliver the Core Infrastructure support service to meet and/or exceed agreed service levels.

Although specific technologies are mentioned below candidates with comparable technologies skill sets will be considered.

With specific knowledge of VMWare Virtualisation technology configuration and management.

Apply in-depth knowledge of the Microsoft Infrastructure technologies which include Microsoft Server installation and configuration, Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Office 365, Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft Certificate services, Microsoft Skype for Business

Have experience in configuring Citrix Netscaler firewalls.

Have experience in the configuration and management of MDM technologies.

Have the ability to configure Fabric switches

Apply in-depth knowledge of developing, implementing, configuring Server, Storage, Backup  Recovery support processes and systems for a VMware, NetApp Snap Manager.

Apply in-depth knowledge of managing an infrastructure support function delivering a service across multiple sites.

Have a good understanding of  infrastructure and application security.

Have experience in remote access management, diagnostics and configuration.

Extensive knowledge of managing a large corporate email infrastructure.

Have experience managing directly infrastructure service providers.

Support the continuous development and enhancement of the service, and ensure that customer care and service excellence are established as core values.

Experience in infrastructure patching and maintenance.

Follow service management processes to ensure consistency and effectiveness of the service and contribute to continuous process improvement.

Use agreed IT service management tools to accurately capture data relating to ITIL processes. Ensure service related documentation is accurate and relevant.

Collaborate with colleagues to identify and investigate problems in systems and services throughout the organisation. Assist with the implementation of remedies and preventative measures.

Maintain an understanding of advances in the relevant technology environment and be able to deliver expert advice while looking at ways that new technology can be implemented to deliver service improvements.

Where required, supervise specialist external technical consultancy.

Develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with all colleagues and with customers.

Provide specialist guidance and advice to less experienced colleagues to ensure best use is made of available assets, and to maintain or improve service delivery.

Manage the access to highly confidential, personal, financial, political and commercially sensitive information; to ensure compliance with appropriate legislation e.g. DPA, FOI, Child Protection Act, etc, the unauthorised disclosure of which would prejudice the interests of the Council.

Ensure compliance with appropriate policies, procedures and guidelines.

Responsible for assets, equipment and materials within the IT service undertaking.

To carry out any other duties as required, which are reasonable in terms of the nature and level of the post.

Deputise for the Infrastructure & Desktop Services manager as required.

Demonstrate appropriate technology program certification.

Have excellent customer facing and customer service skills.
