Java Team Lead / Engineering Manager Leeds to £120k

Java Team Lead / Engineering Manager (Java Payments Cryptography) *Flexible WfH*. Do you have expertise with Java and a passion for building high performance development teams? You could be joining a scale-up FinTech and making a real impact in a lead role where your focus will be on growing and managing a team to deliver highly technical secure payments solutions.

Most of the work is Greenfield development; as a Java Team Lead / Engineering Manager you'll be working across the business; liaising with other team leads to reach a common goal of producing banking software that will enable traditional banks to compete with technology driven challengers.

Your team will focus on producing software for real-time payments transaction monitoring and cryptography; you will oversee design, technical documentation, code quality and production support within the fraud and financial crime domain, including transaction monitoring, anti-money laundering alerts, and mobile device binding / profiling (using 3rd party integrations such Threatmetrix and Crytomathic).

You will provide technical leadership, mentoring and guidance and be responsible for recruiting and retaining new team members.

There's a modern tech stack encompassing Java 11, microservices, AWS, Kafka, Big Data and Cryptography.

There's a fully remote interview and onboarding process as well as the ability to work from home fulltime for the foreseeable; when possible you'll join colleagues in the Leeds office for 1-2 days a week.

Requirements:

Strong software engineering background with Java with indepth experience of designing large, distributed cloud microservices systems

Experience of leading projects across the full development lifecycle, establishing best practices

Experience of working on highly transactional payments systems

Good knowledge of Cryptography with experience of working with 3rd party vendors (ideally Threatmetrix or Crytomathic)

Experience of leading and recruiting high performance software development teams

Excellent written and verbal communication skills - pragmatic, able to inspire and motivate and produce detailed technical documentation
