We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, creative, and highly organised individual to the position of Web Developer. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a varied, team-based role within a dynamic and fast-paced environment. As part of the Web Development and Web Editing and Digital Media Teams you will play a key role in ensuring that the University website is continuing to develop and grow, whilst delivering a high quality experience for the University's core audiences.

Department

The post is based within the Web Development team, part of the Innovation and Technology Solutions (ITS) section. ITS provide strategic empowerment for the University through the leadership of projects and continuous improvement; it also aims to provide outstanding digital services that are customer focused, and professionally and sustainably delivered.

The post holder will work to priorities set by the Web Editing and Digital Media team, part of the Communications and External Relations (CER) section. CER brings together the main areas involved in leading the University's strategic positioning and profile. Engaging with students, staff and stakeholders, we promote the University's excellence in research and education, and ensure its profile is communicated in a consistent way. We take an innovative and creative approach to our work and are at the forefront of new and best practice in student recruitment, admissions, communications, marketing, and stakeholder and customer service.

Duties of the Role

The Web Developer is responsible for the development, enhancement and support of the University's website on the Sitecore Content Management System. They will help to ensure the website is utilising modern digital marketing and communication techniques, developed with a user-centric approach at all times and, able to rapidly respond to market needs. The post will focus on continued improvement of the website through development of new and creative approaches to reach our audience.

The Web Developer will liaise with other University developers to ensure that web-based enhancements and projects are implemented in a timely manner. They will ensure that systems and processes meet the needs of a variety of stakeholders, including applicants and all staff involved in the admissions process.

Skills and qualifications required

The successful candidate will hold an honours degree or an equivalent-level qualification or experience.

You will possess experience of Microsoft ASP.NET, .NET, or C#, MS SQL and working within the Visual Studio development environment. In addition, knowledge and experience of both HTML and web authoring, and of the software development life cycle is essential.

You will be a highly organised individual who has excellent written and verbal communication skills; in addition, you will have the ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritising effectively in order to meet deadlines whilst giving close attention to detail. You will also have an ability to work collaboratively with multiple teams, and have experience of influencing people and agreeing priorities.
