Leeds Beckett University is an exciting, modern University in one of the most vibrant student cities in the UK. Within the University there is a strong, centralised IT department with a remit to deliver forward looking and creative solutions in support of learning and teaching, and of the student experience as a whole.
We are seeking a recent graduate or trainee developer to join our small, but busy, Integration Services team as a Junior Developer. Full training and mentoring will be provided, with a focused development plan and progression pathway. This role will assist in the development and support of data interfaces to our University's key business systems. The ideal candidate is ambitious, passionate about data, with an eye for detail and an analytical mind.
Essential Skills:
Degree in computing or other equivalent formal training, or relevant experience in an equivalent role
Strong technical understanding of ETL theory, principles and concepts
Data modelling and Systems Analysis
Excellent analytical ‘data centric' problem-solving skills
Strong customer relationship and communication skills
Essential experience would include the following technologies:
Relational database management systems (e.g. Oracle, MS SQL Server; MySQL)
Experience of working with a variety of data formats (e.g. JSON; XML)
It would be advantageous if you have:
Knowledge of ETL technologies
An understanding of what RESTful web services are
ANSI standard SQL
Knowledge of Data Warehousing principles (e.g. change-data capture)
Knowledge of the UK HE sector organisation environment and associated sector challenges.
The main responsibilities for the role will include:
Designing, building, testing and implementing ETL processes in SAP Data Services
Developing the unified data model (Operational Data Store)
Working with business stakeholders and analysts to understand data integration requirements
Troubleshooting and systems enhancement
