Lead Project Professional (Engineering Project Group, EPG)

Would you like to play a key role in the delivery of major project within BAE Systems? We currently have a vacancy for a Lead Project Professional at our site in Portsmouth - Naval Base.

As a Lead Project Professional, you will be supporting the Project Manager with the delivery of large and complex major projects within the Engineering Project Group. You will be responsible for the management and performance of assigned packages of work, subcontracts, vendors and accounts to ensure that these packages are delivered to budget, time and cost. You will also be gathering data and reporting on the performance of the work packages and reporting to Senior Stakeholders in the project team.

This role will give you the opportunity to work across a number of major projects as well as all aspects of project management including the deployment of project control and management techniques. This role could also provide you with the opportunity to develop and grow within the team or the wider BAE Systems Business.

 

Your main responsibilities as a Lead Project Professional will involve:

LCM preparation for bid submissions and ongoing Major Projects

Project scheduling

Capturing, sharing and managing actions

Ensuring key project milestones and deliverables are known, met and evidenced

Maintaining management reporting packs

Arranging meetings, agendas, venues, visitors passes, calling notices

Liaising with key stakeholders (Meetings, telephone, emails)

Capturing and managing Risks and Opportunities

Mapping processes, tracking changes, identify further opportunities for process improvement, documenting and communicating change

Lead projects or work packages

Deputise for the Project Manager when required

 

Your skills and qualifications: Essential:

Project Management experience demonstrated in a professional role within a significant business or project

Extensive, expert level understanding of a range of Project Management tools techniques and practices. E.g. Microsoft Projects

Good knowledge and experience of Project Management governance and assurance processes such as Integrated Baseline Reviews (IBRs) and Life Cycle Management (LCM)

Experience in Budget & Risk Management

Experience in bid management

Excellent stakeholder management skills with all levels

Advanced Administration and general office skills including spreadsheets/Microsoft packages

Desirable:

SAP Experience

APM Qualification (or equivalent experience)
