Job DescriptionThis is a temporary role in the finance team to provide medium to long term support to carry out critical finance business function. This role has been developed to manage all elements of Finance in the organisation and to help clear a backlog (estimated a month) within the department. They will have a clear and detailed grasp of managing end to end Finance processes. They also need to be able to use their own initiative, and resource to work independently.In the interim they will need to pick up some duties a more junior finance assistant would fill until the full team is in place. This role will also assist with the recruitment of a finance assistant who they will manage.The finance manager will work closely with the Head of finance reporting on progress and establish resilience in the team in addition to carrying out work functions by compiling system notes on all key functions to ensure full audit trail and skills transfer of business-critical functions.

Main ResponsibilitiesUltimate responsibility for workflows to maintain and reconcile company's ledgers (SL, PL, Intercompany accounts, Bank, and ancillary accounts)Managing one direct report including mentoring, developmentUltimate responsibility for payroll & pension processing, ensuring tax compliance & managing all staff payroll communications.First point of contact for employees on finance processes and administration, delivering finance inductions and internal staff comms on finance process.Maintenance of Compleat purchase order system configuration (new starters) & training inductionsCompliance lead on internal financial policies and procedures and update of handbook annually for any changesLead support to external audit team (annual) on all finance process and transaction workRequired SkillsSage 50 payroll, payroll processing, taxation compliance, management of pension schemes, P60; s P11D's etcKnowledge of Purchase order systems (use of Compleat, process of purchase order matching to invoices, checking GL, Vat coding and posting to GL - in time a finance assistant will help substantially with this process)Sage 200 fluent -all functionality (SOP, PL, GL, Cashbook etc.)Year end audit process - assistance with supporting audit team (year end is 31 March with audit due to take place end June) , compiling audit file and ensuring accounts clean and reconciled for auditReconciliation skills (intercompany accounts, control accounts)Use of On-line banking systems ( payment runs etc.)Personal AttributesConfidence to engage with organisation as key finance communications.Ability to solve problems with dedication, accuracy, and tenacity.Self-starterCommand authority and respect amongst peers quicklyGoal focused and quality driven
