Here at Babcock International we are recruiting for a SOC Security Engineer to join our security team based at our Lakeside offices in Cosham, Portsmouth. You will be responsible for building the security architecture and systems within the SOC, as well as maintaining and improving our security monitoring and analysis tools. As SIEM subject matter expert, you will also be responsible for the maintaining and recommending new tools, as well as updating our systems.

You'll be responsible for the management and coordination of equipment and system staging, as well as reviewing the security and policy documents to therefore make recommendations.

You will manage the day-to-day SOC owned security solutions and products, monitoring configuration, performance and capacity threshold monitoring of the services, along with the tuning of the products. You will also ensure patching and updating is kept up to date on all infrastructure in line with change control processes.

Key Accountabilities:

SOC Infrastructure maintenance to include configuration, troubleshooting, technical design, maintain high levels of security on the platforms and working with 3rd party vendors

SOC tooling; maintaining a healthy ingestion of logging events into the SIEM, and develop and tune other toolsets

Threat monitoring and threat intel in accordance with established policies and procedures

SOC development including supporting on projects, integrate SOC tooling, defining system security requirements and supporting the onboarding of new technologies

Establish and maintain strong working relationships with different internal teams, and collaborate with stakeholders and external IT support functions

What do I need to do the role?

Experience within an IT Security function building and maintaining security systems and tools

Scripting and system integration experience - Python and Linux Bash

Operating systems and system administration skills

Experience with SIEM tools

Patching management

Advanced understanding of networking principles, IT architecture and SOC toolsets

Degree in a related subject/area of study (desirable)

What else do I need to know?

The successful candidate must be able to achieve the appropriate security clearance level for this role.
