You will join a cross-functional Agile development team to collaborate on full-stack PHP Symfony and iOS/Android apps to enhance software products in the logistics & construction sectors. This software provides big business benefits for a rapidly growing client list.
Company offices are located in west Edinburgh, although everyone is working from home until restrictions are lifted. Flexible working at home and/or office is standard.
What the role covers
- Developing new features for the product & improving existing ones
- Delivering reliable & scalable solutions
- Working closely with other engineers & product managers to deliver results
- Mentored by experienced engineers & learning through knowledge sharing within the team
- Participating in team planning & retrospectives
- Planning & estimating tasks in collaboration with other engineers
- Working with a range of technologies including PHP, Vue.js, Docker, AWS
- Promoting new functionality to the team & wider audience
- Planning & implementing tests for your work to maintain code coverage
- Contributing ideas for system feature & code improvements
- Applying best practices to the code base
- Working with third-party integrations to support our customers
Must have
- Relevant commercial programming experience
- Experience with PHP, Git & relational databases (eg MySQL or Postgres)
- Ability to pick up new skills
- Good knowledge of HTML, CSS, JS, & other front end technologies
- Experience with frameworks
- Excellent communication skills
Nice-to-haves
- Vue.js & multiple programming languages experience
- Experience of external data services (eg RESTful services), inc. programmatically interacting with different data formats
- Linux CLI experience
- Degree in computer science (or a related discipline), or relevant industry experience
- Understanding of SOLID principles & design patterns
- Experience writing tests for your work
