My Client is looking for a Finance Analyst for an initial 6 month contract.

This role will be based remotely.

BT Group Tax is a large and dynamic tax team, accountable for all taxes, covering tax compliance and reporting, as well as tax advisory support to the BT businesses. We seek to lead against our peer group in developing new ways of working, embracing new technology and actively participating in HMRC consultations and the tax simplification agenda.

We are currently transforming our approach to managing our VAT return process, building a new reporting, consolidation and testing system and designing best practice processes. The Tax Analyst - VAT Operations will have the opportunity to play a key role in supporting the initial development, helping to shape BT's future UK VAT reporting.

What you'll be doing

As part of the BT Group Tax Operations team, you will support the Tax Data Senior Manager in understanding the range of financial systems used by the company and associated reporting available across a range of financial processes.

Specific responsibilities include:

(1) Making Tax Digital Project

This project is aimed at ensuring our VAT process is compliant with the Making Tax Digital legislation being introduced by HMRC. In preparation for the new legislation, requiring the online filing of VAT returns and a digital journey throughout the VAT return process, we are reviewing all our systems and seeking to automate the extraction of the data needed. In support of this project the job holder will:

*Investigate the many different data sources, the existing reporting capabilities and potential opportunities for enhancing current data extracts.

*Working with robotics to transform the many different data source formats into a single common standard.

*Interrogating data to understand where special rules need to be applied and in what circumstances.

*Exploring how to expand coverage of controls to new sources of data.

*Working across the business with different finance teams to solve problems identified.

(2)Supporting members of the VAT operations teams in the operation of existing controls and processes.

We'll also need to see these on your CV:

*Part / fully qualified accountant.

*Experience of different finance systems such as SAGE, Navision, Microsoft AX, Oracle, SAP.

*Analytical skills, including the ability to:

oManage and play with large sets of data

oInterrogate new information

oMake decisions based on multiple factors

oSolve problems in an innovative way

*A knowledge of VAT would be beneficial

*Experience in MS Access would be beneficial
