Summary Your DevOps Software Engineer role sits within our Business Intelligence team in the Chief Data Office (CDO), the hub for Business Intelligence within the Group. We're a cross functional group of data professionals, software engineers, web developers and database developers.

You will be helping us build an innovative self-service reporting platform - the "Business Intelligence Marketplace" (think Amazon for BI), which will help the business unlock the potential of data and analytics across Lloyds Banking Group.

So what am I responsible for as DevOps Software Engineer?

This is a new role for the Business Intelligence team so you will have the opportunity work with our Web Development and Data Leads to establish the DevOps patterns and principles of the team in line with the Group's methodologies.

You will be responsible for supporting the build the deployment processes for the Business Intelligence Marketplace, which is a web application that provides a single point to consume data, reporting and analytics for all the group.

You'll focus on the DevOps elements of the software engineering role, helping us to deploy software regularly and smoothly while continuously improving and developing our processes.

You'll help us to learn and implement the best use of DevOps tools, like Jenkins, source control platforms such as Team Foundation Server or GIT, plus how to containerise and maintain our infrastructure platform.

What experience, skills and knowledge will I need to apply?

We don't have an advanced DevOps function in our team yet, so primarily we are looking for someone who comes from a software engineering or database engineering background that has a solid understanding of DevOps practices, processes and supporting tools.

As this engineering role sits within a data engineering function, we'll need a combination of technical skills including a front end development language like Python (Ideally in combination with Flask/React) plus an understanding of business intelligence reporting.

If you have any coding experience in SQL that would be fantastic, but not required. The same goes for any exposure to cloud technologies like Azure or GCP, desirable but not essential.

We understand the broad scope of DevOps roles so we are really flexible on specific skills but any experience of the following would be fantastic... Continuous Improvement/Continuous Development, tools such as Jenkins, source control platforms such as TFS or Git and containerisation.

This would be a great role if you......

Are passionate about DevOps

Understand the value of data and analytics

Would like a role where you skills are valued in a supportive environment
