Creating a digitised workspace for delivering excellent healthcare

Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT), is the largest acute trust in the UK, with over 25,000 staff caring for over a million patients a year. Combining 10 hospitals and community services from across Greater Manchester, we provide outstanding patient care and services.

Our ambition is to build on our leading initiatives and revolutionise the way we work together. That's why we're embarking on a programme of unprecedented transformation that will see cutting-edge digital solutions integrated across all our sites and services. This is an opportunity to develop your skills at the forefront of advances in healthcare management.

You'll work in one of the most progressive and innovative Informatics departments in the NHS, backed by significant multi-million pound investment. From introducing enterprise-wide Electronic Patient Records (EPR) to data warehousing and business intelligence that support the decision-making of clinical and operational staff, we're using existing and emerging digital technologies to technology to increase organisational efficiency and improve patient health outcomes.

The role

End User Computing (EUC) is part of the frontline service in today's NHS, helping our staff to provide high-quality care. You'll focus on planning, delivering and managing technical infrastructure for all end-user devices across the Trust. These include desktops, tablets and mobiles on a Windows operating system, which are managed utilising Active Directory.

Capacity, availability, security and smooth functionality are key issues in this demanding work environment. You'll provide expert technical advice on EUC to managers, and take the lead on the design and planning of major new infrastructure implementations and changes. You'll also have the opportunity to share your expertise by coaching less experienced colleagues.

Skills & knowledge required

You'll have extensive technical experience in an IT infrastructure support role, which should have been gained in a large organisation with a complex mix of devices and users. With Microsoft MCP/MSCE qualifications or equivalent experience, you'll be familiar with the installation, configuration, upgrading and management of Windows operating systems.  This should include advanced knowledge of server and desktop virtualisation, Exchange, Active Directory and SCCM. Experience of delivering business continuity plans is also vital.  Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach will help you make the most of this opportunity.

Sector-leading benefits

This major transformation will expose you to career-defining opportunities, further enhanced by access to high quality training and development initiatives. We will also provide you with a competitive benefits package that includes generous holiday entitlement, childcare support and a desirable NHS pension. Your work-life balance is important to us at MFT, so you will also have access to flexible working options (subject to the role and its requirements).
