The Department for Transport (DfT) works to support the transport network that helps UK citizens, businesses, good and services travelling around the country. We plan and invest in transport infrastructure to the UK moving.

Our experienced and talented Digital Service teams currently:

Provide the Digital, Data and Technology capabilities that equip everyone to work.
Drive efficiency by optimising the Department's business processes.
Increase workforce productivity by delivering smarter, better services and a digital culture.
Provide advice and expertise to policymakers on the impact of technology in the transport system.

As an Associate Technical Architect, you will be an ambassador for architecture in Digital Services and across DfT, supporting the business in develop their digital ambitions. Technical Architects will be involved in translating user needs into technical requirements and supporting the design of digital solutions that are optimised for the future. Supporting development teams during the project lifecycle ensuring the solution is developed in accordance with the technical design and meeting their delivery targets.

Responsibilities Include but not limited to:

Develop architectural patterns and solutions to complex DfT data and digital problems.
Understand and champion DfTc's digital and application principles, patterns and standards, advising stakeholders and suppliers on how to use them.
Work with the organisation and Digital Service to deliver multiple projects that require architectural thinking to meet their delivery targets.
Embed architecture governance through the Architecture Change Board ensuring architecture alignment technical designs, DfTc's architecture principles and standards and communicating their decisions.
Assess and assure new products and applications delivered by 3rd parties and ensure that DfTc has up to date knowledge of its digital and application estate across several directorates through maintenance and support of the architecture portfolio.
Support the production and implementation of the DfTc family's digital and technology strategy.

About you

You may come from an architect background or be an experienced developer looking to move into architecture, but you will already be involved in digital development in some capacity. You will be able to effectively communicate your solutions in order to influence digital strategy and priorities to a range of stakeholders.
