Working as part of the current Information & Cyber Assurance team, you will assist in the development of Departmental information and cyber policies and aligning these to the departments security risk appetite. You will support large digital and technology projects and provide professional trusted advice in your area of expertise. 

This role will typically suit individuals with a passion for cyber and or information security and an ambition to learn, develop and grow within the public sector. 

You will be actively working with colleagues in the wider Digital Service and will create positive working relationships across the Department for Transport, when delivering critical advice to colleagues on Information & Cyber security.

Responsibilities   include but are not limited to: 

Provide trusted advice to DfT colleagues related to information and cyber security 
Assess information and cyber security controls and assurance levels across DfT(c)'s digital initiatives, which will require engagement with stakeholders both within DfT and externally. 
Assess DfT(c)'s information security risks through identifying and assessing risk by challenging assumptions and influencing decision-makers (often at senior level). 
Develop and maintain DfT(c)'s information security and assurance strategies, policies, standards and registers, focussing on cyber controls and risks. 
Represent the views of DfT(c) in wider government information and assurance initiatives. 
Carry out other related activities commensurate with these requirements. 

About You 

Are you someone who can translate technical to a non-technical colleague? As the ideal person you will have a strong interest in information and cyber security. You will demonstrate this through a proven background working on the development of cyber policies. This will include a comprehensive understanding of interpreting and applying security strategies and policies in the workplace. 

The nature of this role means you will engage and actively work with several different departments. As such, you should have first class written and communication skills to effectively translate complex data that can be relayed in a simple and easy to understand manor. 

You will also ideally hold one or more of the following qualifications (or be willing to work towards these when appointed): CISSP, CISA, CRISC, CIRM.
