Data Management Lead

Would you like to be responsible for increasing the control, maturity and management of data across the Maritime Services business? We currently have a vacancy for a Data Management Lead at our site in Portsmouth.

As a Data Management Lead, you will provide technical expertise on best practice for data governance, development and authoring of Maritime Services processes, guidance documents and training material. You will lead the Maritime Services data management steering group and represent Maritime Services at The Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) review boards.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical direction and manage an indirect multi-disciplined team of qualified professionals. This is an amazing opportunity to be part of a fast growing dynamic team and gain exposure to the wider BAE Systems.

Your main responsibilities as a Data Management Lead will involve:

Developing and updating Data Maturity of Maritime Services organisation and working with broader BAE Systems Business Units to lead on best practice.

Lead and prioritise Data Management programme and projects, serving and guiding support functions and lines of business in data and information management systems and capabilities.

Collect and analyse complex data to produce and present business cases, underpinned by data management and exploitation capabilities for internal digital solutions.

Undertake strategic analysis, lead benchmarking activities, review ways of working, propose and deliver programmes to develop Maritime Services data management capabilities.

Plan, design target operating models and roadmaps, monitors progress, resolving issues and initiating / advising corrective actions.

Your skills and qualifications:

Strong Data Management experience.

Ability to work to the standards of Data Management Association (DAMA).

Understanding theories and concepts in data or information management specialist.

Ability to plan and manage the work content in line with the overall data roadmap.

Control resources and work package development/implementation in area of responsibility.

Understands how to apply data and information management concepts and principles in a service delivery environment.

Location: Portsmouth Naval Base

Salary: Competitive based on experience

Grade: GG12
