COTS Hardware Engineer
Would you like to play a key role in the design and development based on COTS technology?
We currently have a vacancy for a COTS Hardware Engineer at our site in New Malden.
As a COTS Hardware Engineer, you will be covering a number of facets including design of SI (share infrastructure) Systems, testing and issue resolution.
This role will provide you with the opportunity to see the design and development of a system through to deployment on board the Royal Navy platform. This role also gives you the ability to work on multiple projects and be a part of the project across the whole engineering lifecycle.
Your main responsibilities as a COTS Hardware Engineer will involve:
Producing documentation to capture hardware design aspects
Creating Procurement Specs for the purchase of COTS items in line with system design
Undertaking installation of hardware at land-based sites and on ships
Supporting EMC, shock and vibration trials
Providing technical support for new bids and undertakings
Resolving technical design issues as they arise
Your skills and qualifications:
Essential skills
Experience with COTS hardware - e.g. blade and server technology, network switches, cabinets etc.
Experience in formally capturing hardware design e.g. documentation, Visio diagrams etc.
Experience in building and setting to work COTS hardware systems
Experience of putting together test schedules and installation documents
Desirable skills
Experience of working as part of large team on a delivery project
Experience of working on defence contracts and knowledge on what is takes to get hardware/systems on board ship
Experience of EMC, shock and vibration testing
CAD experience
