We are seeking an experienced, and organised Data Manager to join the Open Targets consortium. The post is an exciting opportunity to work with Open Targets project teams to maximise the impact of the data they are producing and will be based at the Wellcome Sanger Institute on the dynamic Wellcome Genome Campus. This is a pivotal role at the heart of the Open Targets Partnership and will give experience at the heart of translational data science. In this role, you will be working to develop and operate the process by which Open Targets project data is managed and shared with Open Targets partners and integrated with Open Targets informatics products (Open Targets Platform and Genetics Portal). This involves working with large biological data sets (bulk and Single Cell sequencing & expression, eQTL, CRISPR screening) and managing versioning over time across the academic and industrial partners of Open Targets (Bristol Myers Squibb, GSK, Sanofi and Takeda) as part of a multidisciplinary team committed to improving drug target identification and prioritisation. Essential Skills   Technical Bioinformatics and data organisation skills Experience managing data infrastructure for research project(s) Experience of shell scripting and comfortable in a UNIX environment Other programming language skills (such as python or R) and data analysis experience BSc in Biological Sciences, data science or a related discipline Competency Highly organised with a proactive approach and ability to work independently Strong verbal and written communication skills Ideal Skills Technical Familiarity with data transfer methods between institutes Experience of working on large-scale biomedical products Familiarity with genetic and functional genomics data sets, raw & processed Competency Initiative to take forward ideas within scope Knowledge and understanding of policies on data protection with respect to genetic data sharing Other Information Whilst the developments around COVID-19 continue to evolve, the Wellcome Genome Campus is closed for all but essential functions and facilities.  People remain at the centre of everything that we do and the majority of our staff are now working remotely to ensure continuity of operations, making use of remote communication and collaboration tools. Interviews will be taking place virtually and the successful candidate should expect to be fully supported through remote on-boarding and working from home until the Campus re-opens to all staff. This approach may vary for individuals located overseas and/or where a visa is required and starting will be based on a number of factors, we will be able to provide specialist advice to those affected candidates.
