Development Engineer - Spine Sustaining EngineeringDuration: 18/01/2021 to 31/12/2021Location: Oberdorf, Basel LandschaftOVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES:Is responsible for the design and development of improvements/modifications of existing implants and instruments POSITION DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Develops improvements and modifications to current products according to the Synthes product development processResponsible for the product designIs primary contact person for technical questions/issues of existing productsParticipates or leads product development projectsIn close collaboration with the technical engineering office, drives changes of drawings, models and bill of materialsResponsible for the performance of the product and its mechanical stability, as well as the application of geometric dimensioning and tolerancingDevelops mechanical test set-ups (including derivation of benchmarks) according to national and international standards and coordinates the activities required to fabricate test parts and complete mechanical testing (according to PD process)Works with manufacturing to clarify design issuesPerforms the required activities and generates the appropriate PD documents to ensurecompliance with national and international regulations related to medical devices (in particular EU MDD, US FDA, Japanese PAL)Performs other special projects and functions as assignedKnows and follows all laws and policies that apply to the job, and to maintain the highest levels of professionalism, ethics and compliance at all times EDUCATIONAL AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Education Requirements:University or ETH course plus 1-2 years practical experience or doctorate, orExperienced professional, who has mastered the job through professional training and extensive experience (min. 10 years)Further Education (if applicable):Knowledge of biomechanics, biology, anatomy is a plusSpread sheet and CAD/CAM, materials scienceProject managementExperience:Mechanical experience (construction, production), min. 1,5 - 2 years as Associate Development EngineerInterpersonal skills / characteristics (if applicable):Creative/problem-solving skillsplanning skillswillingness to accept responsibilityindependentteam playerLanguage requirementsGerman: Business fluentEnglish: Business fluentSthree Switzerland is acting as an Employment Business in relation to this vacancy.
