Here at Babcock International we're looking to recruit an Applications Manager to manage a portfolio of assigned services and products focused on business challenges and desired outcomes. You will have 7 direct reports with your team size being approx. 30 people, and you will be responsible for taking products from initial concept through design, validation, prototype to end delivery and support.

You will lead and own the support and operations of heritage and critical business applications/services as well as an oversight of operational KPI's and compliance reporting. You will collaborate and build effective relationships with key peers including Enterprise architecture, security, PMO and business sectors.

Other responsibilities will include:

Manage and be the escalation point for the team in managing the lifecycle including operation and support of assigned applications, solutions and services in production

Managing the pipeline of requests and backlog catalogue within Group portfolio ensuring customers are at the centre of the experience

Responsible for portfolio defined KPI's, workload management & prioritisation including labour utilisation and cost recovery

Creating an environment and culture of continuous learning and development through talent development plans, skills matrix, coaching and mentoring

Vendor management of assigned tiers ensuring successful & effective relationships with suppliers acting in Babcock interests are built and maintained alongside procurement teams

Define and ensure all solutions adhere to the standards and policies for coding, config, security and all relevant standards from wider teams

Responsible for operational processes within Group Portfolio including compliance reporting, IT disaster recovery, Business continuity, backups and patching, change management, ITSM

Build and maintain Communities of Practice (COP) for assigned portfolio with representative from across the sectors and BCS. Creating collaborative and engaging COP focusing on customer journey and delivering business focused outputs through roadmaps, knowledge sharing, efficiency and satisfaction gains

Ensure test and training processes are followed and adopted as determined by the test and training practice leads

 

What do I need to do the role?

You must be an experienced Applications Manager with a good understanding of the technology and applications that are supported

Service management experience - managing KPIs and SLAs

Appreciation and ideally experience in financial management

Experience managing and supporting applications on a daily basis

Ability to cultivate strong working relationships with peers, cross functional teams, and External Vendors

Ability to deal with and manage conflict whilst building successful business relationships across a range of stakeholder groups

 

What else do I need to know?

The successful candidate must be able to achieve the appropriate security clearance level for this role.

Home working is available with monthly travel to Portsmouth.
