IBM DB2 (LUW) Application DBA

Location: Edinburgh, London

Type-Inside IR35

Job Purpose and primary objectives:

Managing IBM DB2 database and Oracle database as Application DBA

Key responsibilities :    

This role is responsible for managing IBM DB2 (LUW) database as application DBA and as Oracle database application DBA. The responsibilities include managing multiple databases on the client estate and therefore manage various application stakeholders, ensuring that all databases are managed properly, and support provided to various application development and support team with queries related to IBM DB2 (LUW) and Oracle Database.

The Database Administrator will be performing various tasks like application performance tuning, application recovery , support database backup process, support during upgrade of applications and relevant application releases and support database migrations to higher versions.

• DB Backups and Restores
• On Call support where required
• Application Release support

Major Challenges (The challenges inherent in the role that require a continual test of the role holder’s abilities)

• Ability to balance multiple requests for IBM DB2 and Oracle database. Problem solving and analytical skills to resolve issues quickly if involved in Major incident management
• Continuously adopt a pragmatic, flexible and responsive approach.
• Maintain constructive and supportive working relationships with stakeholders across the group
• Understanding of concepts for both IBM DB2 (LUW) and Oracle database

Management of Out of office hours support

• On-call support where required
• Application release support
