At the General Dental Council (GDC), well-structured data warehouses and data marts will play a vital role in our decision-making process, ensuring we are a high performing modern regulator. With this brings a career defining opportunity for a Business Intelligence & ETL Developer to help design and develop our new data warehouse and data marts.
The role is both exciting and diverse, combining technical expertise with strong communication and collaborative team working skills. You will help inform decision-making and solve business problems through extract, transform, load (ETL) techniques, by aggregating data from multiple sources into an efficient data warehouse working within enterprise-level and very large multidimensional databases. You will also provide input into technical discussions, share knowledge and assist other team members with data challenges, working collaboratively with end users in the business to capture requirements and translate these into a prioritised plan for data warehouse and mart developments.
The General Dental Council (GDC) is the UK-wide statutory regulator of around 110,000 members of the dental team. Our primary purpose is to protect patient safety and maintain public confidence in dental services. To achieve this, we register qualified dental professionals, set standards for the dental team, investigate complaints about dental professionals' fitness to practise, and work to ensure the quality of dental education.
Our staff are dedicated, highly focussed and support each other to build on their skills and experience.
Technically you will have experience of the Microsoft SQL Server Business Intelligence tool stack, with experience of other ETL tools, data flow and Business Intelligence layer tools being advantageous, such as Tableau and Power BI. You will have a good understanding of the software development lifecycle and different software development models, to design, develop and test your developments before going live. As such you will have a level of software testing experience, including test case creating, unit testing, system testing and user acceptance test support.
Equally important will be your strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively and build excellent team working relationships, whilst working in an organised way and maintaining accuracy.
To reward you for your hard work and commitment, we offer an attractive benefits package that includes a generous pension scheme, flexi-time and 25 days' annual leave (pro rata) plus bank holidays.
