COMMERCIAL MANAGEMENT INFORMATION ANALYSTS
Total Package: £35,700
Location: London, with flexible working
1 Year Fixed Term
At the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), we hold an interesting remit that evolves on a day-by-day basis. Working both proactively and reactively, we are tasked with protecting the nation's interests and safety, reducing poverty and promoting the UK as a force for good. Working in partnership with our international allies to tackle global challenges, our work takes us to every conceivable country, with our people addressing natural disasters, the threat of terrorism, cyber crime and so much more. We are now at an interesting point in our development. Following the merger earlier this year between the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and the Department for International Development, it is imperative that we set standards that will define how we continue to work - and it is here that you could find the biggest challenge of your career.
Reporting to both HM Treasury and the Cabinet Office, you will play a vital role in helping us handle our mandatory data management and reporting requirements. As a trusted advisor throughout the implementation of our e-sourcing and finance systems, you will be instrumental in the transition to key commercial systems, and the high quality Management Information (MI) that you provide will support the development and delivery of commercial policies. With a focus on assurance, transparency and General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) obligations that we must meet, you will see to it that we have one FCDO data set and that it is being managed appropriately. As such, you will identify, collect, cleanse, migrate and aggregate data sets, linking them as relevant and presenting your findings and conclusions in a wide range of formats. Supporting both internal and external stakeholders in their MI needs, you will handle the drafting and clearance of Freedom of Information requests and responses to Parliamentary and Urgent Questions.
To excel in this dynamic team, you will use the most relevant tools and techniques for data analysis, modelling and visualisation. You will have well developed skills in working with large datasets, with experience of migrating and integrating data to one common platform. Coming from a commercial environment, or with a background in delivering procurements, you will understand the nuances of using commercial, finance, HR and information management systems. It goes without saying that you will have confident Excel skills and you will enjoy coming up with watertight solutions to complex problems. Crucially, you will have excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to lead discussions and presentations.
The FCDO provides fascinating career opportunities for our 17,300 employees. With exceptional projects to get involved in, the chance to network extensively within the department and the full support of an ambitious team behind you, we are confident that you will achieve your career goals with us. While your career satisfaction is a vital part of what we can offer, we will also support your wellbeing with a great work/life balance and generous annual leave. Further complemented by a desirable pension scheme and a competitive salary, you are sure to find what you are looking for at the FCDO.
Closing date: 11 January 2021.
