Unite the Game and Inspire the Nation through Winning England Teams.

The English Football Association (the FA) is the governing body of football in England. We are responsible for promoting and developing the game at all levels; from grass roots through to the professional game, The FA Cup and the England International teams, and has two core assets: Wembley Stadium and St George's Park.

To deliver against our goal we have reallocated resources and invested heavily in developing a team of exceptional people capable of creating winning England teams at our world-class training facilities at St George's Park in Staffordshire.

This is a unique and exciting time to join the FA, with both our Digital Technology and Education divisions being integral to the organisation achieving its ambitions.

The Role

We are looking for a Senior Product Manager who will be responsible for shaping and leading the design and delivery of compelling digital product experiences so that they better serve our customers and help us achieve the FA strategy. The role holder will focus on our FA Education division, an increasingly digital first business that is harnessing the power of digital to provide coaches throughout the game with personalised and connected learning experiences. As such the successful candidate will be a member of both the Product Leadership and FA Education Leadership Teams. Accountabilities will include development of the vision for our coaching portfolio of products and transforming them to help us achieve our 4 year targets.

The role will be primarily based at our St. George's Park office, with some flexibility to work from home, with travel to Wembley and other locations 2-3 times per month.

Key Accountabilities

This will involve, but not be limited to:

Researching and analysing the customer landscape

Defining, managing and leading a team to achieve a shared vision for a product

Working with product development teams to realise the vision balancing short term achievements with long term goals (e.g. technical debt, retirement of legacy systems).

Engaging with Education Division stakeholders to shape and initiate product development work, and ensure our product plans and roadmap support and enable achievement of their targets

Supporting the Head of Product Management by playing a key role in the development and delivery of the Product Management strategy and plan

Understanding and contributing to the Education division's agenda, and play an active central role as part of the Head of Education's leadership team in championing and delivering on it at the pace and with the boldness required

What we are looking for:

Essential

Significant experience in product management roles, delivering compelling and sustainable direct-to consumer digital product experiences at scale

Experience leading and coaching team members and other colleagues

Experience using agile approaches to research, prototype, iterate, deliver and continuously develop Minimum Viable Products

Demonstrable ability to be an excellent role model and to encourage others to exhibit an organisation's values and behaviours

Confidence to influence external and internal stakeholders (up to and including senior level) effectively, as a member of the divisional leadership team

Familiarity and confidence using Product Management best practices (e.g. Product Canvas, Objectives & Key Results, Personas, Journey Maps, Roadmap)

Significant experience working with colleagues to convert multiple and complex requirements into a simple, measurable and actionable plan

Experience in building and writing product and technology business cases

Comfortable leading and working with teams remotely/virtually

Desirable

Degree or equivalent

Excellent knowledge of business to consumer trends (e.g. online learning, omni channel retail, consumer packaged goods, travel and hospitality)

Experience of driving change in operating models to transform the delivery of Digital / Technology services and associated benefits

Experience of using data to serve tailored and personalised experiences to customers and achieve a more engaging relationship

Experience working for a leading business in the digital direct to consumer education sector and a passion for helping people learn

Good managerial accounting skills to optimise the allocation of resources across the Education Product Portfolio

What we can offer you:

An exciting and challenging role within a changing, dynamic and world-renowned sports organisation.

Attractive benefits and a competitive salary for the right candidate.

We are passionate about increasing equality of opportunity, using merit-based assessment processes to find the best person for the role, from diverse talent pools.
