Our Cloud Engineering team is looking for an experienced and passionate Cloud Engineer with strong hands-on development experience. As a Cloud Engineer you'll be an active and leading member of a cloud-focused team of engineers - working on one of the Group's flagship projects to deliver a strategic platform on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) that will enable the business to realise the next generation of services that form the Bank's vision for 2020 and beyond!

The role will have end-to-end accountabilities including:

Shaping GCP and Cloud-technology roadmaps

Finding opportunities & use-cases for new features and cloud-based products

Collaboratively working with the business and other engineering teams to design then build and release enterprise-class solutions that progress the programme's roadmap

The role will require you to be 'hands-on' and will blend both deep domain and technical expertise within the Cloud topics.

What you'd get involved with:

Driving identification of opportunities for and delivery of enterprise-class automated solutions

Identifies shortcomings and opportunities, including use cases for new features and cloud products, then suggests and implements improvements to existing business practices

Analyses and evaluates the feasibility/relevance of proposals for complex products/services, then develops and amends as necessary

 

What's needed to be considered for this job?

Essential:

Experience working with a broad set of GCP services

Ability to write scripts in the following languages: BASH, Python, Groovy

Delivered platforms based on the principles of Infrastructure as Code: Terraform

Recent experience using Kubernetes

Desirable:

A solid understanding of Cloud Security

Recent practical experience using Google SDK to deliver APIs + automation

Pipeline + automation: Understanding of Jenkins and how to extend it

GCP Professional Cloud Engineer (Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer; Professional Cloud Network Engineer; Professional Cloud Security Engineer)

About you:

Recent experience designing and delivering hybrid-cloud platforms and services, automated API-driven systems with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles and agile delivery models

Able to follow and iteratively improve domain-owned services as GCP and other cloud-based products mature + develop new features where other emerging technologies present an opportunity

Ability to work with architectural, business and other engineering leads to shape, design and engineer solutions

Ability to work with a team of engineers to deliver domain-owned deliverables and dependencies

Continuous curiosity to learn and develop themselves with industry best practice methods and tooling in the cloud function

Technology agnostic and are willing to adapt their approach in pursuit of the best solution
