Ref: 026714 Main duties & responsibilities As a Senior Technical Officer, you will responsible for the preparation of materials and equipment for practical, commercial and short course classes as required in one or more areas of the School. This will mainly involve support for specialist techniques in electronic networking and software/hardware area for both undergraduate and postgraduate students and occasional support in other areas within the School. You will help and assist in developments and testing of embedded software using various programming languages including C++ and Python. Furthermore, you will be involved in demonstrating the safe use of testing kit, technical equipment and specialist skills to all groups of staff and students and providing specialist and general assistance to students to enable them to carry out their work. Skills and experience needed You must be able to prepare and assemble experiments and practical applications for students and staff in this busy Higher Education environment. You must be able to support assembly, manufacture testing and diagnostic equipment used in the School across all areas. Professional experience of managing and/or maintaining an efficient technical operation is essential. Furthermore, you must have experience of embedded software development using C in such environments as Arduino, mplabX or mbed to develop, test and assist students with their projects. Qualifications required You must hold a minimum of A Level qualifications or equivalent or have equivalent proven experience. A recognised qualification in an appropriate subject at degree or HNC/HND level or equivalent is a desirable requirement of this role.
