The successful candidate will be working as part of the Retail Transformation directorate delivering new features for customers across our brands in the mobile space. The Retail Lab mobile teams are fully agile and strive for excellence. As a part of the team, you'll have the opportunity to participate in internal Hackathons, coding challenges and bi-weekly platform meetings where the community shares knowledge. About the role
In this role, you'll contribute to the technical leadership team's work of driving the technology and future of the platform. Working with the Strategy and UX/UI Design teams as well as customer organisations to architect, design, and implement solutions. You'll also be crafting, developing, and producing mobile components and services; resolve, apply, and improve appropriate methodologies and toolsets for customers. The minimum background experience and skills you'll need to apply:
*You have a solid understanding of designing a mobile experience for variable screen sizes in variable versions of Android and strong knowledge of Android SDK
*Strong knowledge of Android UI design principles, patterns, and best practices and experience with offline storage, threading, and performance tuning *Knowledge of the open-source Android ecosystem and the libraries available for common tasks and a knack for benchmarking and optimisation
*Understanding of Google's Android design principles and interface guidelines and proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git Additionally, we'd looking for hands-on experience of continuous delivery across areas such as code reviewing; mentoring/educating junior (or less experienced) developers; understanding of basic App architectures (i.e. MVP); strong Java & Kotlin knowledge; confident knowledge about best practices libraries (Dagger2, RxJava, RxAndroid, Retrofit, Butterknife). It would also be great if you have the following experience but not essential:
*Familiarity with cloud message APIs and push notifications
*Understanding of HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and responsive web design as well as knowledge of RESTful APIs and web services
