Contract: Permanent If you are an experienced Software Testing Engineer with technical leadership expertise, this role presents a career defining opportunity in the field of testing. We work with a wide range of data partners to chart the world's oceans in order to develop and serve world leading software and data solutions to commercial shipping companies, navies and maritime organisations. Our products ensure safe navigation and global trade efficiency and support other marine activities including economic development, environmental protection, resource exploration and utilisation, scientific research and security and defence. The role As a lead you will provide technical leadership across a number of different delivery teams, providing guidance in all areas of testing. You'll be hands-on coding when required and helping the teams produce high quality tests both manual and automated. You will also have the opportunity to work on your own projects, such as researching a new testing tool, building new frameworks, or looking at new ways of testing that could be adopted by UKHO. A typical day could look like: Working with a delivery team in the morning to help them resolve an issue with their delivery pipelines Attending a sprint event to help guide another team on the best automation options for a piece of work Pairing with another Lead Tester on investigating a new testing tool Mentoring a junior tester on manual testing processes Writing a blog on some work that you have done that may be of interest to the wider government test community You'll be joining a community of some 17 people that both collaborate within the community but have several collaboration projects working with colleagues across a number of different government departments. We value highly people's personal development, within the test community we have people on Azure, AWS, Java and C# Certifications to name a few. What we are looking for Experience in providing technical leadership and evidence of a deep and wide range of skills in testing areas (manual and automation), including building and maintaining automated testing frameworks, is essential. Equally important will be your broad range of commercial experience using  .Net, Java or similar language. And in return?
