Senior IT EngineerFarnborough3 month contractUp to £620 per day via umbrella onlySC Cleared Job DescriptionThis is a new opportunity for an experienced IT Server/Infrastructure Engineer to join a team of dedicated IT professionals to deliver new and exciting IT systems into the Defence environment.The candidate shall have in-depth experience of installing and configuring VMware virtual Environments coupled with Microsoft Server Operating Systems.Working under a Senior Engineer or Architect, the candidate will lead tasks and take responsibility for the task's technical output. The applicant will work with the technical management team to identify resources required for the task and provide regular progress updates.The applicant will be at ease working within a small to medium sized team and be comfortable taking on new tasks outside of their skill set as required by the business.

The applicant will be expected to uphold quality and deliver solutions to budget and time constraints. Solutions must be delivered fully documented so a high standard of written work is expected.The team support projects across a range of client sites, so mobility is a key requirement of the role. Although based in Farnborough, the candidate may be expected to work at other sites as required - with travel & subsistence provided. Position Requirements: Technical background with a broad range of knowledge, based on Microsoft Server, VMWare, and a mixture of COTS, and custom applications.Experience providing customer support to IT systems, preferably within the Military environment.Practical experience of building VMWare ESXi (ideally VCP6.0 or later) and Microsoft Server 2012/2016 (MCSA/MCSE ideally, or demonstrable experience).A sound technical understanding of IT concepts, including Active Directory, Group Policy Object and DNS architectures.Experience in deploying and supporting Enterprise Infrastructure Services including directory, messaging, back-up and storageExperience of systems integration, with appreciation of networking requirements for a server infrastructure.
